Jordaan

Eleonora: “After visiting my children who live in the Jordaan, I walked along the Egelantiersgracht with Loulou our Australian Labradoodle on a beautiful sunny evening and thought this is the most beautiful place in Amsterdam. Boats that pass by and Café het Smalle on the corner at the Prinsengracht. Then I walk across the bridge, with a view of the Westertoren, and saw a man smoking a cigarette on his bench in front of his house. I said to him: “You are the king of Amsterdam”

Him: “huh”

I say: “You live on the most beautiful spot in Amsterdam.

The man (Berry) said: "But girl I can't put my clothes anywhere and we have lived here for ten years and are secretly looking for a more spacious house".

I continued: "Oh, now write down my phone number, because if you ever decided to leave, I'd love to buy it."

The man: "But girl you haven't seen it at all!?"

"I see enough. You have a bench in front of the door, a view on the canal, a beautiful authentic lamppost, a garden around the tree and another bench on the canal. He showed me the apartment after all and I immediately liked it. Six days later I got a whatsapp message from Berry asking if I was really serious. The deal was closed and we got upstairs neighbor Joop, 81 years old born and raised on the Egelantiersgracht, so a real Jordanian, as a present.

Interior

Eleonora:” I completely took care of the furnishing of this apartment. After all, interior is completely my thing. It is really my passion to furnish houses beautifully. I gain inspiration during the travels I make, I visit India a lot. “Travel with a Mission, the eye needs to travel” is my life motto. I like to stay in Bali, Puglia and Ibiza to visit friends. Of course I take back beautiful unique items such as paintings, jewelry and clothing.

The first thing that was hung here, by the way, are the two golden lions from the balcony of the palace on Dam Square. After Ajax had won the European Cup in 1972, my father bought it for ten guilders each. Now forty-six years later, they are back in Amsterdam, just 200 meters behind Dam Square. Nice he!

This kitchen was already there, but I added brass handles myself, which has a luxurious look. I also had a Siccis tile wall installed in the kitchen. The pink mosaic tiles give warmth to the kitchen. And as the ultimate eye-catcher of the house, I wanted a floral wall of Bisazza mosaic tiles, which I bought in a shop in Puglia during a visit from my best friend. The specialty of these Bisazza tiles is unique mosaic in all shapes and colours. These beautiful colored ceramic tiles complete the apartment.

For the bedroom I chose the crane wallpaper from Gucci. Don't they fit beautifully in this powder pink room? In any case, it matched with the Moroccan wedding dress, bought in the during a photo shoot in Marrakech

Style

Eleonora: “I like to surround myself with beautiful things and I love colour. I don't really have a particular style. I like to mix the old with the new; so it has character straight away. C'est moi!

You have to surround yourself with beautiful things.

Hate plastered walls; so cold, chilly and safe. I do like to be outspoken, so perhaps my style is rebellious. Just doing things differently. I also really like used materials; they give warmth and coziness; I also use a lot of stuff with a variety of textures.
